This Morning Routine Will Improve Your Mood

Make it personal.

How do you begin your day now? It makes sense to incorporate those things that have worked for you - coffee, breakfast at home, walking the dog - previously into your a new routine. And by setting your alarm clock 20-30 minutes earlier you can add time to read from a meditation book or even jot down in a journal a few ideas to make your day run more smoothly. This is an excellent time to note something that spurs you on.

Perhaps you’re getting together with an old friend, or attending an orientation for a new volunteer opportunity, jot down one intention for the day.

If you want an easy, external structure, begin by using a daily meditation book related to how you want to be in the world. These are a couple good books to try: Peace of Mind by Amy E. Dean or The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday.

Many times, a simple morning ritual upon waking is to think about one thing you’re grateful for as you do a few minutes of morning stretching and take a few deep breaths to start the day. Ch one new activity for self care and take on a posture of positivity!
